The event brought together specialists from various legal and Sharia-related fields, aiming to enhance awareness among students of law, Sharia, law and political science, and to support their transition into the job market.
The first day opened with a lecture by Abdulqader Al-Khatib, professor of uṣūl al-fiqh at the College of Law and a member of the university’s Social Services Committee. This was followed by a keynote address from Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid—advisor at the Royal Court, member of the Council of Senior Scholars, and Imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque—who spoke on the importance of Sharia sciences in shaping legal systems, emphasizing the need for legal professionals to be well-versed in Islamic fiqh and its foundations.
Subsequently, Abdulaziz Al-Mushail, professor at the College of Sharia at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, delivered a lecture on uṣūl al-fiqh and its relationship with law. Fahd Al-Sisi, assistant professor and faculty member at the Islamic University, then addressed the topic “Fiqhi Responses to Contemporary Legal Theories”. He also conducted a workshop titled “Critical Reading and Its Impact on Legal-Shar‘i Conceptions”.
The second day, moderated by Fahd Al-Qahtani, assistant professor of uṣūl al-fiqh at the College of Law, featured a series of sessions. In the first session, Saad bin Nasser Al-Shathri, advisor at the Royal Court and member of the Council of Senior Scholars, discussed the importance of observing maqāṣid al-tashrīʿ (objectives of legislation) in legal practice.
In the second session, Ahmad Al-Rashid, professor of uṣūl al-fiqh at the College of Sharia, Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, and member of the legislative committee, examined the relationship between fiqhi legal maxims and statutory law. The third session featured Abdulaziz Al-Dughaythir, a legal and fiqhi consultant, who highlighted the importance of the Arabic language in drafting legal systems and their practical applications.
The program concluded with a workshop led by Abdulaziz Al-Dughaythir on “Career Opportunities for Graduates of Sharia, Law, Legal Systems, and Political Science”. The event closed with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to participants.
