Publication of Afaq-e Velayat by Ayatollah Modarresi Yazdi

The two-volume book "Afaq-e Velayat," authored by Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Reza Modarresi Yazdi, has been released

A new scholarly two-volume work titled “Afaq-e Velayat” by Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Reza Modarresi Yazdi has recently been published. The 965-page collection is based on the author’s revised Dars-e Kharij, the highest level of advanced Islamic jurisprudential seminars (fiqh). It brings together a series of in-depth academic discussions on key theological and jurisprudential themes within Shia thought.

Among the central topics explored in the book are the concept of Wilayah al-Takwiniyyah (ontological authority) attributed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Imams (AS), as well as its broader implications in relation to the divine saints. The work also examines Wilayah al-Tashri’iyyah (legislative authority) of the Prophet and the Imams, alongside detailed exegetical analysis of the Qur’anic verse concerning Ulul-Amr (those in authority).

In addition, the book discusses the necessity of the existence of a Wali (guardian or ruler), narrations related to Wilayat al-Faqih, and responses to theoretical objections raised against this doctrine. It also presents scholarly viewpoints from prominent jurists on Wilayat al-Faqih, along with an analytical study of narrations addressing the prohibition of armed rebellion (Khuruj bi al-Sayf).

Published in two volumes, Afaq-e Velayat contributes to contemporary discussions in Shia jurisprudence and political theology by compiling advanced seminar-level research in a structured form.
