IranDoc to Host Iran’s First Artificial Intelligence Competition Event

Tehran – IRNA: The Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology (IranDoc) will hold the country’s first artificial intelligence competition event focused on Persian language processing.

According to IRNA’s Science Group, citing the Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology, the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence has made the need for accurate and localized Persian language processing more important than ever. Although global AI models have achieved remarkable progress, they face limitations when dealing with the specific challenges of the Persian language as well as organizations’ security requirements.

The event has been designed with the aim of identifying and supporting elite teams that have developed ready or semi-ready products in the fields of speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS), and optical character recognition (OCR).

Given the institute’s capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence, organizing this event could serve as an effective step toward transforming and introducing IranDoc as one of the country’s leading hubs for the development of indigenous artificial intelligence.

Objectives

1. Targeted identification and recruitment of technology teams:
Discovering and rapidly integrating elite teams and startups that have moved beyond the idea stage and possess an initial product (MVP) or semi-ready product in Persian-language STT, TTS, and OCR fields.

2. Connecting research and industry:
Bridging the gap between academic scientific research and real market needs, and directing research capabilities toward the development of practical and localized solutions.

3. Developing benchmark datasets:
Creating and standardizing indigenous datasets at the institute to enable accurate and reliable evaluation of AI models across the country.

Implementation Phases (Rapid Evaluation and Deployment Model)

Phase 1 (Pre-event Preparation):
Developing commercial evaluation criteria and preparing assessment datasets by the scientific committee, along with team registration and initial screening.

Phase 2 (Remote Presentations):
Teams will present remotely, and their algorithms will be tested, leading to the initial selection of top-performing teams.

Phase 3 (Detailed Technical Evaluation):
Each team’s algorithms will be executed on the institute’s test data. Technical and commercial scores will be compiled, and 3 to 5 top teams will be selected.

Phase 4 (Final Event and Recruitment):
Selected teams will participate in the final event, present product demos to the judging panel, and be introduced as finalists. The selected teams will enter the stages of contract signing, receiving seed funding, and establishing operations at the growth center.
