Iran Becomes a Member of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization

According to ISNA news agency, the Iranian ambassador to China, on behalf of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, signed the founding document of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, registering Iran's name among the member countries of this newly established organization.

After signing this document, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, in a meeting with Liu Bin, Vice Foreign Minister of China, emphasized the importance of the role of multilateral cooperation in shaping the future of advanced technologies and said: Iran is ready to actively participate in the scientific, research and application development of artificial intelligence, as well as in creating international mechanisms for the fair use of this technology.

The Iranian ambassador in Beijing emphasized that by participating in this international initiative and being among the founding countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran is pursuing its approach of constructive participation in the field of new technologies and using the capacities of artificial intelligence for the sustainable development and progress of societies.

The World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) was established on July 16, 2026, at the initiative of China, on the sidelines of the "World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026" in Shanghai. The organization is an independent intergovernmental organization headquartered in Shanghai and pursues goals such as promoting international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, strengthening the global governance of this technology, and ensuring its healthy, safe, and equitable development.
