Call for Papers: International Journal of Islamic Architecture

The International Journal of Islamic Architecture (IJIA) is inviting submissions on urban design and planning, as well as historical architecture across the Islamic world—encompassing the Middle East, parts of Africa and Asia, and emerging geographies of Islam.

Published biennially, the International Journal of Islamic Architecture focuses on rigorous analyses of the practical, historical, and theoretical dimensions of architecture in the Islamic world. The journal seeks to elevate scholarly dialogue and foster informed debate among specialists and researchers in the field.

While architecture remains its central focus, IJIA also welcomes interdisciplinary studies that approach architecture through related fields such as art history, archaeology, anthropology, cultural studies, spirituality, religion, and economics. Particular attention is given to contemporary architecture and urban design in relation to social and cultural history, geography, politics, aesthetics, and technology.

The journal’s inaugural issue was published in January 2012.
