Artificial Intelligence Sector in Iran Will Experience Significant Growth in 2026

Shafaqna – Iran’s Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy stated that nearly 300 knowledge-based companies active in the field of artificial intelligence are currently benefiting from grants and support provided by the Department of Science and Technology. He added that the AI sector in the country is expected to experience significant growth in 2026.

According to a report by Shafaqna citing the Iran’s Vice President for Science and Technology, Hossein Afshin announced that new AI-related calls for proposals will be released in the coming days and that support packages for the next year are being prepared. He noted that nearly 300 knowledge-based companies active in this field are currently receiving supportive grants from the Vice Presidency.

Regarding the organization's support programs for knowledge-based companies amid the expanding use of artificial intelligence, he said:

“We have already issued several calls for proposals in the field of AI, and the next call will most likely be published within the next few days.”

The Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy added:

“Appropriate support packages have also been planned for next year so that we can continue to support technological development in this field.”

He further stated that the good news for the public is that the fundamental infrastructure needed for the growth of AI technology in the country is currently being established. He concluded:

“We expect to witness substantial growth in this sector during 2026.”
