25th AICIS+ 2026 to Be Held in Indonesia in November

The 25th Annual International Conference on Islam, Science, and Society (AICIS+) 2026 will take place under the theme “Revitalizing Islamic Civilization for Sustainable Life: Local Heritage, Technological Innovation, and Human Flourishing” from 17th till the 20th of November 2026 in Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia.

It is to explore how Islamic knowledge, ethics, and cultural heritage can contribute to addressing today’s global challenges, including climate change, rapid technological development, social fragmentation, and changing concepts of human wellbeing. The conference argues that revitalizing Islamic civilization is not simply a return to the past, but an effort to recover Islamic intellectual traditions and local wisdom as relevant resources for building a more sustainable, ethical, and meaningful future.

The conference brings together interdisciplinary research examining the relationship between Islamic thought and contemporary global challenges. Its ten main themes cover Qur’anic and Islamic scholarship; artificial intelligence and digital ethics; environmental sustainability and climate resilience; inclusive governance and peacebuilding; human dignity, gender equality and social inclusion; sustainable and Islamic finance; public health and wellbeing; education and youth leadership; science and technological innovation; and Nusantara/Indonesian cultural heritage and community initiatives.

Overall, AICIS+ 2026 seeks to connect Islamic values, scientific and technological innovation, local cultural knowledge, and human wellbeing, encouraging scholars to develop practical and ethical approaches to sustainable development while contributing Islamic perspectives to the global discussion on what constitutes a good and flourishing life.

AICIS+ is one of Indonesia’s leading academic forums in Islamic studies and related interdisciplinary fields. The 2026 edition will cover a wide range of sub-themes, including Islamic thought, Qur’anic and Hadith studies, artificial intelligence and digital ethics, inclusive governance and peacebuilding, ecology and sustainability, Islamic economics and halal innovation, public health and bioethics, education and youth leadership, scientific and technological transformation, and Nusantara heritage Religious Affairs of the Republic conference is organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, which has developed AICIS as a scholarly tradition since 2000 within Indonesia’s Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions (PTKI). The official host for the 2026 edition is UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon.

According to the official timeline, abstract submission is ongoing from 10 to 30 August 2026, followed by review, announcement of accepted abstracts, full paper submission, and the main conference sessions in November 2026.
