The international symposium "Artificial Intelligence, Ethics, and Democracy" is to be held on Friday, July 10, in Vienna. The event is organized by the Cultural Office of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Austria (Iranian Wisdom House, Vienna) to commemorate the Persian translation and publication of the works of Professor Mark Kokelberg in Iran.
The academic and cultural event is expected to attract scholars, researchers, and enthusiasts interested in the philosophy of technology, AI ethics, and the impact of artificial intelligence on democracy. The symposium's keynote speakers include Professor Mark Kokelberg of the University of Vienna, Professor David J. Gunkel of Northern Illinois University, Dr. Amir Hor, an AI scientist and professor based in Vienna, Dr. Rouhollah Eslami, faculty member at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and scholar of political thought, and Dr. Reza Gholami, professor and researcher in political philosophy.
The symposium marks the publication of Persian translations of Professor Kokelberg's works in Iran. Kokelberg is internationally recognized as one of the leading scholars in the philosophy and ethics of artificial intelligence, robotics, and the ethical implications of emerging technologies for society and democratic governance.
A special book exhibition will feature important titles including Artificial Intelligence and Democracy, AI Ethics, and other works addressing artificial intelligence, politics, and philosophy. The Persian translations have been published by Qoqnoos Publishing, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad Press, Refah Faculty Publications, and Dexa Publications.
Bringing together Iranian and international scholars, the symposium provides a valuable opportunity for intercultural dialogue and the exchange of ideas on one of the defining challenges of the contemporary world.
The event will be hosted by the Iranian Wisdom House (Cultural Office of Iran in Austria). Those interested in attending or learning more can visit the center's official website at https://wisdomhouse.at/.
The symposium forms part of broader cultural and academic efforts to strengthen global dialogue on the ethics of artificial intelligence and its implications for democratic societies. It is expected to draw the attention of academic, media, and policy-making communities in both Iran and Europe.
